Rory McIlroy Boards Private Jet after East Lake Tournament

Rory McIlroy tied for fourth at East Lake — and a few hours later he boarded his G650ER with tennis rackets, art work and golf clubs in tow.

This is N1989R departing Fulton County Executive Airport (KFTY) after the final round of the TOUR Championship in Atlanta. Scottie Scheffler took the FedEx Cup at 16 under; McIlroy closed the week at 11 under, part of a seven-way logjam at fourth, and left with about $1.7 million for it.

His Saturday was the round that made the weekend interesting. McIlroy sat near the bottom of the field on the greens through 36 holes, then went out and shot 63 — gaining almost four strokes putting, the best putting round anyone posted all week. It moved him from an afterthought to five back of the lead overnight.

The airplane is worth a look on its own. N1989R is a Gulfstream G650ER, serial 6510, built in 2022 — the long-range version, 7,500 nautical miles, which is Atlanta to essentially anywhere he needs to tee it up next. The FAA registration went on the books in August 2024 under TVPX Aircraft Solutions as trustee. That’s an owner trust, not a mystery: it’s how almost every aircraft in this class is titled, and it’s why the registry gives you an Utah address instead of a name.
