In many ways, the 1992 Rolex Yacht-Master represented the first of the modern Rolex luxury sports watches. The model traces its roots to an internal Rolex effort to modernize the iconic Submariner, but the company decided to test the waters with a new, luxury-focused model.

The Yacht-Master was the result, and it has become a mainstay of the Rolex lineup even as the Submariner’s style has belatedly followed Rolex’s ultra-luxe trailblazer into the contemporary era. Yacht-Master style trademarks include the “maxi” case with larger crown guards, bolder lugs, and far more polished surface area than the contemporary 16610 Submariner dared to flaunt. Larger dial markers, hands, polished bracelet center links, and a precious metal bezel complete the equation.

WatchBox is proud to offer this exquisite Rolex Yacht-Master with the company’s famed “Rolesium” stainless steel/platinum combination metal. The entire bezel and dial are formed of platinum for maximum durability on the bezel and jewel-like frosted refraction on the dial itself. When combined with the shock of red on the model name and seconds hand, the aesthetic is icy cool and the epitome of elegance.

While the Rolex Submariner dominates the action under water, the Rolex Yacht-Master rules the waves. Its advanced case and dial concepts made it a true pioneer and a trend-setter that foretold the modern era of the upscale luxury sports watch.
