Rolex Pro Hunter Military Stealth Submariner 116610 Luxury Watch Review

Rolex is the world’s number one luxury watch brand for a reason; universal admiration. Unfortunately, wearing the number one watch means it’s tough be the *only one* wearing a Rolex.

Exclusivity is part of the game in the luxury watch sector, and the Pro Hunter Military Stealth Rolex Submariner offers the best of both worlds: Rolex precision and low-volume appeal. How low is low? Try 100 units. For comparison, Rolex ships one million watches per year.

But exclusivity counts for little if a rare watch isn’t distinctive, and Pro Hunter’s Military Stealth Rolex Submariner is deeper and darker than any box-stock “Sub.” Matte black PVD changes the character of the watch from utilitarian to spec war, and that’s no coincidence; Pro Hunter designed the Military Stealth as an homage to the British Ministry of Defense Rolex Submariners from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Key tribute features of the Pro Hunter Military Stealth Submariner include fixed strap bars for outstanding security and historical authenticity; this is how it was done by the Royal armed forces.

Pro Hunter takes no half-measures, and the Military Stealth Submariner includes a premium textile NATO strap constructed by the same military supplier that constructed the original Rolex NATO straps for the MOD Rolex 6538/1, 5513, 5517 standard-issue. Having been employed by British “Black Boat” commandos, Marines, and Naval Aviators, these watches endow the Rolex Submariner with a valorous service record.

And the Pro Hunter Military Stealth “Sub” continues the tradition with a modern take on the mil spec Submariner. Upscale matte PVD coating ensures anti-reflective qualities and a subdued look under high-intensity lighting conditions. The bezel has been coated to match, but Pro-Hunter retains Rolex’s outstanding scratch-resistant Cerachrom ceramic insert. Critically, Pro Hunter is a full-service shop with the ability to overhaul, upgrade, and completely refinish its watches. This capability includes the capacity to fully restore the black PVD coating during routine service; to repeat, the already robust coating can be restored with ease by Pro Hunter.

Pro Hunter never modifies a “used watch”; all Rolex watches customized by the British boutique brand are purchased new direct from Rolex. PVD cases, bezels, and custom-signed Pro Hunter dials are crafted on virgin watches that have no prior ownership history and backed in every respect by Pro Hunter’s own service department.

Custom touches aside, the Rolex Pro Hunter Military Stealth Submariner remains a Rolex, first and foremost. As a reference 116610, it embodies the latest Rolex refinements, technology, and style. As solid as a bank vault, this Submariner also keeps time in the legendary Rolex fashion; the COSC-certified caliber 3135 automatic movement is left untouched by Pro Hunter’s styling savants.
