After a month of traveling non-stop, we needed a break and decided to check into what turned out to be our favorite hotel we’ve stayed at anywhere in the world. The daily buffet breakfast was incredible and reminded me of Las Vegas, the full gym with both city and ocean videos was top-notch, and the swimming pool, spa, jacuzzi and steam room put it over the top. Best of all, booking the entire month got us a nice discount on top of the current low season promotional rate, making it just 9,000lkr ($48.80usd) a night.
At a bit less than $1,500 for the month, it was still 3x the price of a local apartment, but we figured when else would we ever get the opportunity to stay in a 4-star hotel right on the beach for an entire month for the cost of rent back home in a standard apartment. Factoring in the cost of breakfast, gym membership, wifi, electricity, swimming pool use, and much more, we figured that the actual cost of the room was closer to just $900 a month as we would have spend $600 anyways on bills, breakfast, memberships, etc.
