Indonesia tests biofuel flight
Indonesia on Wednesday conducted its first test flight using oil extracted from palm oil as the country plans to trade the fuel, using it as a legal jet fuel. The plane flew more than 100 kilometers from the capital Jakarta to Bandung.
Speaking as a fuel for palm oil, Economy Minister Erlan Gahatarto told a news conference: “As Indonesia’s largest producer, palm oil must be processed, including the development of biofuels and jet fuel. ”
Indonesia currently has a biofuel production program with a 30 percent component from palm oil known as B30. The government aims to expand the use of the fruit oil for energy and reduce fuel imports.
The biofuel for the aircraft used in the test flight contains only 2.4 percent palm oil, but a law in 2015 required it to use 5 percent by 2025.
French senator arrives in Taiwan amid tensions with China
A group of French senators arrived in Taiwan on Wednesday for a five-day visit after China deployed a large air force with fighter jets amid rising tensions between Beijing and Taipei.
The delegation, led by Senator Alan Richards, will meet with Taiwanese President Sai Yingluck, the French Minister for Economy and Health, and the Mainland China Council. Richards, a former French defense minister, visited Taiwan in 2015 and 2018. And is leading a Taiwanese friendship group in the French Senate.
According to local media, Chinese Ambassador to France Lu Xie sent a warning message calling on Richard to cancel his visit to Taiwan.
The visit is likely to be condemned by China as an interference in Chinese affairs.
Malaysia summons Chinese representative for protest after Chinese ship enters its economic zone
On Monday night, the Malaysian government summoned a Chinese representative to the Southeast Asian country to protest what it claimed was a Chinese ship entering its economic zone in the South China Sea.
The Malaysian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that Chinese Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur Oyang Yujin would “send Malaysia’s opposition to the presence and activities of Chinese ships, including a natural resource reconnaissance vessel in the region.” “Malaysia’s exclusive economy” to the Chinese government.
The ministry has accused China of violating domestic and international law by sending ships off the coast of Sabah and Sarawak, part of Malaysia’s Borneo.
It is the second such move this year, with Malaysia protesting in June after 16 Chinese military planes appeared off the island of Borneo in the South China Sea, which China claims as its own. Malaysia accuses China of violating its sovereignty, but Beijing says it is a normal training flight.
China claims almost all of the South China Sea and has set up military towers on small islands and reefs, sparking outrage among Chinese claimants, including Vietnam, the Philippines, Brunei and Taiwan. .
The United States has also sent warships and warplanes through the area to assert international rights to free navigation, which has angered China.
