The Breitling Navitimer Heritage Chronograph A1332412/C942 is a core luxury watch model from a watch brand that has called the Navitimer its flagship since 1954. Originally launched as a pilot’s watch with a chronograph function and the world’s first “wristwatch flight calculator,” the Navitimer and its circular slide rule bezel have become as important to Breitling as the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch is to Omega and the Rolex Submariner is the the biggest name in watches.
This Navitimer Heritage features an exquisite sunburst blue dial with applied hour indices and sunken sub-registers for the chronograph. The date window provides a useful reference at three o’clock, and the famed circular slide rule is printed on the outer dial and a mobile silver reheat.
Breilting’s Navtimer slide rule bezel is a logarithmic scale that permits computation of flight data via multiplication and division. The system is easy to learn and is just as useful for calculating tips at restaurants as it is for navigating in the cockpit of an aircraft.
The Breitling caliber 13 chronograph movement is automatic winding and features a 42-hour power reserve. This caliber is a Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph that is delivered with a high grade train, balance, hairspring, and five-position adjustment so that it can earn a COSC Swiss chronometer certification. The movement features hacking (stop seconds) and a quick-set date; water resistance is 30 meters.
The Breitling Navitimer Heritage Chronograph A1332412/C942 features a 42mm stainless steel case surrounding an Aurora blue dial on a tan leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle. Functions include hours, minutes, small-seconds, date, chronograph and tachymeter. The watch also measures 14.3mm in thickness and 47.8mm from lug-to-lug.
