It’s time to rebuild the transom doorway on the 1949 wooden motor cruiser. To ensure the grain seamlessly matches the newly laminated transom, I had to back up and do a bit more structural demolition on the stern.
With the doorway planking squared away, the next step is wrapping up the transom with fresh teak trim. In today’s episode, I take on one of the most intricate components of the entire build so far: scribing and shaping a complex compound-curved corner knee bent like a ribbon out of a solid block of prime marine teak.
This small piece proved to be a major challenge for me as an aspiring shipwright.
