Can a Beneteau really compete with some of the most established long-range cruising yachts on the market?
With a price tag approaching £2.5 million, the Grand Trawler 63 enters a fiercely competitive segment – but it also brings something genuinely different. Combining impressive long-range cruising capability with bright, practical living spaces and owner-friendly operation, this is a yacht designed for people who want to spend weeks or even months on board in complete comfort.
In this detailed YachtBuyer Tour & Review, Jack Haines explores the largest and most luxurious trawler Beneteau has ever built to find out whether it justifies its premium positioning.
As with every YachtBuyer review, we focus on what matters most to buyers:
– Design & practicality
– Long-range cruising capability
– Interior layout
– Owner operation
– Engineering
– Comfort at sea
– Value for money
What impressed us most wasn’t simply the 2,500 nautical mile maximum range or the spacious accommodation. It’s how intelligently the Grand Trawler 63 has been designed for life on board.
Wide, protected side decks, a practical midships galley, comfortable helm positions, generous storage, flexible accommodation and excellent owner access all combine to create a yacht that’s as enjoyable to live with as it is to cruise.
The Grand Trawler 63 also introduces a more contemporary approach to outdoor living, with expansive open deck spaces, a hydraulic swim platform, large flybridge entertaining area and one of the brightest interiors we’ve seen on a yacht in this class.
Beneath the waterline, efficient semi-displacement hull design, standard Sleipner stabilisers and twin MAN diesel engines deliver the capability to travel long distances in comfort while remaining manageable for owner-operators.
While there are rivals with more luxurious finishes at this price point, the Grand Trawler 63 makes a compelling case through its combination of space, practicality and genuine passagemaking ability. If your priority is spending extended periods on the water rather than simply arriving in style, this yacht deserves serious consideration.
